A table is a piece of furniture that is generally used to set things on. For example, when eating a meal with your family it is nice to have either a kitchen or dining room table to sit at while you are eating. Another use might be as a game table, if you and some friends would like to play cards you can use a table to play your game on. A table can also be used in your bedroom as a bedside table to hold your alarm clock and other things such as your glasses and the book you are reading. A table is usually a flat surface on top that is held up by supports or legs. Most tables have 4 legs, one on each corner to support the table. Other tables may have one main stand in the middle, which then extends to the ground and branches off into smaller legs to help support the main stand

There are many different types of tables, a table used in your home can be used for whatever you want to use it for, and here are some ideas.

1. Dining Room Table – Would you like to sit down for a nice dinner with your family? A dining room table is the perfect solution, most of these tables can seat from 4 – 8 people depending on how big your family is and then you can share in a nice family dinner.

2. Bedside Table – These types of tables are set next to your bed and are great for holding things such as a lamp, your glasses, books, alarm clock and whatever else you might need to set down right before bed.

3. Game Table – A game table is usually a smaller table so everyone playing the game is close enough to reach either the board or the cards you are playing with. It is nothing fancy, just your basic table that works great when you don’t want to play a game on the floor.

4. Banquet Table – The technical term for these tables are called “Refectory” tables. They are long tables meant to hold a lot of people like at a wedding banquet for example, this type of table could hold the wedding party.

5. Coffee Table – A coffee table is not only to hold coffee like it sounds. Instead a coffee table is usually a short, low to the ground table that you would put in the middle of your living room to hold things like your drinks when you are sitting around on your living room furniture. You could also use it for magazines, candle arrangements or whatever else you might need to set on it when you are kicking back on the couch for some fellowship with your friends.

6. End Table – These tables are usually very small tables meant to put at the end of your couch or in the entryway of your house, or just to fill a blank spot on the wall in a walkway. They are great to add a little extra to the room, or to block off a living area to give a sectioned off look if your house has the kitchen, dining room and living room all as one big room.

7. Sofa Table – A sofa table is usually long and rectangular and is meant to sit behind your sofa. These tables are great for holding lamps to give you optimum light while sitting on your sofa. They can also hold other things like family pictures or a nice candle display to make your living room look homier.
